Bomb Blast in Kabul
A car bomb in Kabul has killed at least 17 people and injured more than 60. The blast in the Afghan capital exploded near the Interior Ministry office and the Indian embassy. Eyewitnesses report glass and debris scattered across the streets amidst a hover cloud of smoke in what officials say was a suicide attack.
Iraqi journalist tortured
Government officials allegedly tortured the Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at former US President George W Bush while he was in jail. Muntadar al-Zaidi said he wanted an apology from Prime Minister Nouri Maliki and that he would name the officials later shortly after his release from nine months in a Baghdad prison.
