The African Cup of Nations match between Egypt and Nigeria ended last night with a victory for Egypt. The Pharoahs beat the Super Eagles 3-1 in a match that pitted two former winners of the competition against each other. The Super Eagles began as the stronger of the two. Chinedu Obasi put Nigeria ahead in the 12th minute, but a goalkeeping error enabled the Pharoahs’ Emad Moteab to kick the ball into the net before Ahmed Hassan scored a second goal. Substitute Mohamed ‘Gedo’ Nagy scored the final goal in the 87th minute, leading Egypt to victory.
Earlier in the day, Mozambique’s Mambas and Benin’s Squirrels ended their match in a 2-2 draw.
