The Landmark Hotel in London was filled with journalists, media and business experts, to commemorate the Diageo Africa Business Reporting Awards . The award celebrates great journalism, and rewards individuals and organizations that have gone the extra mile to reveal the dynamism of African Industry. This year’s event saw more than 750 entries from 20 countries across Africa and the rest of the world.
There are eleven awards and a panel of eminent judges selected winners for each category. The winners received bold sculptures by German artist Loni Kreuder, and a cash prize of £500.
- Best ICT Feature: Iden Wetherell, Global Post, Zimbabawe
- Best Finance Feature: David Stead, BBC World Service, UK
- Best Infrastructure Feature: Kerry Dimmer, African Decisions, South Africa
- Best Agribusiness: Francis Kagolo, The New Vision, Uganda
- Best Tourism Feature: Philip Mwakio, Financial Journal, Kenya
- Best Use New media in a Story: Peter Vlam, Africa Interactive, Netherlands
- Best Business News Story: Felix Dela Klutse, Dalily Guide, Ghana
- Best business Feature Story: Jerry Guo, Newsweek, USA
- Best Newcomer: Gemma Ware, The Africa Report, France
- Media of the Year: Philip Isakpa, Business Day, Nigeria
- Journalist of the Year: Peter Guest, This is Africa, UK
