Celebrities talk about Haitian relief on Oprah

In the latest Oprah Winfrey Show, Rapper Wyclef, and singers Rihanna and Maxwell talked about their efforts towards bringing relief in Haiti.

 

Wyclef showed a video taken of his recent trip to Haiti, where he was born. In the video, Wyclef is shown in a mask which he wore to protect himself from the smell of dead bodies in the rubble. He described what he saw as an “apocalypse”. The famous rapper has been raising money for Haiti relief through his charity organisation - Yele Haiti.

 

Meanwhile, Rihanna and Maxwell took in support of the Haiti Quake Victims. World famous singer Rihanna sang Bob Marley’s “The Redemption Song”, on the show. Rihanna told Winfrey that she plans to perform with Bono, the Edge and Jay-Z on the telecast.

 

R&B singer Maxwell who was born in Brooklyn but said he was raised by his Haitian grandmother performed his song “Fistful of Tears”, “It’s been devastating for me”, said Maxwell of the earthquake. My heritage is from there on some level.” Both songs by Maxwell and Rihanna are available for purchase through iTunes. Proceeds from the sale of the tracks will go to organizations like the Red Cross which are leading relief efforts in Haiti.
