French First Lady welcomes Haiti orphans to Paris

The French first lady happily greeted dozens of Haitian orphans to Paris. At least thirty three children aged between one and six were welcomed by Carla
Bruni
, wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the Charles de Gaulle airport.

Ms. Bruni showed compassion and kindness towards children by kneeling down and talking to them. The children are expected to join their adoptive families once their papers had been verified. Of the thirty three orphans that have come to Paris, each has a Haitian passport with the family name of their adoptive family. But they also have
their birth family's surname.

'It's very important that a child knows where he came from,' one nurse said. The group of children had left the school where they had taken shelter after the destruction and headed to the Port-au-Prince airport singing 'the little train'. The children are now scheduled to meet the Red Cross medical officials to treat them for the emotional and psychological shock that they have been through.
