Mogadishu's Mayor warns residents to flee battle town. Officials say they expect the offensive against Islamist insurgents will intensify in the coming weeks. One hundred thousand people had been forced to flee this year since the start of the fighting.

 
New York to payout millions to rescue workers

 
Thousands of volunteers and rescue workers who suffered health problems after the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001 have reached a settlement worth up to $657.5 million US in compensation.

 
Drogba named African Footballer of the year

 
Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba has been named African Footballer of the Year. This is his second award in the history of the awards which were held in Accra, Ghana.

Colombian named world’s shortest man

A 24-year-old Colombian man has officially became the world's shortest man. Edward Nino Hernandez has been certified as the world's shortest living mobile male by Guinness World Records, measuring just 27.46 inches. The previous titleholder was He Pingping of China, who was an inch or so taller and died in March.
